Taken in 2013 in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. This shot was on a day we had just arrived in the park. We got started on a late hike, and were told we might "see something", meaning, a bear. We didn't see one on this occasion, but were still in awe of the beauty. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 16-35mm F4 lens.
Sunrise Near Many Glacier
Taken in Glacier National Park, near the Many Glacier hotel. I awoke early this particular morning and was greeted with a beautiful sky and some intense golden light. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 16-35 F4 lens.
Wildflowers of Glacier National Park
Taken along the trail to Iceburg Lake in Glacier National Park in 2013. We timed our visit to Glacier perfectly this particular summer, as there is only about a two week window when the wildflowers are in bloom. This particular scene was snapped without much thought whilst hiking the trail. Only later did I realize how beautiful it was. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 16-35 F4 lens.
Many Glacier Hotel
Taken in Glacier National Park, Montana. This historic hotel requires an advanced reservation of about a year or so. We managed to secure one the year prior, and also managed to stay an extra night due to a cancellation. It is one of the most beautiful hotel locations I had ever seen at that point. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 16-35 F4 lens.
Taken in Glacier National Park, Montana along the Grinnell Glacier hike. The beautiful turquoise color of Grinnell Lake, below the glacier, is caused by the glacial silt. This particular scene was captured during the hike with a group. The glacier itself is on the upper right of the photo and has receded majorly in the past years. Soon this glacier will not exist, along with most of the glaciers in the park, which is quite sad. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 16-35 f4 lens.
Taken near Keene Valley NY. Having just stormed, the sky started to clear, only to reveal some beautiful and dramatic colors. There was a small pond close to where I was staying the night and I rushed to try and get some sky reflections in it. Captured with the Fuji X-T2 and 16-55 F2.8 lens.
Late Summer on Mt. Jo
Taken from Mt. Jo in the high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains of New York. I make a point to climb this short but fantastic hike just about every time I am up in the Lake Placid area. Back in 2008 it was the first hike I had done in the high peaks. The views are outstanding of Mt. Colden and Algonquin Mt. Captured with the Fuji XT-2 and 16-55 f2.8 lens.
This image was taken in the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. During sunset, I struggled to find a good composition. I then found this compass stone near the Appalachian Mountain Club Highland Center. I chose black and white here because the colors actually distracted from the subject. Taken with the Fuji X-T2 and 16-55 F2.8.
Milky Way at AMC Highland Center
This was taken at the AMC Highland Center in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I stayed at the center on a solo trip in the fall of 2016. I determined where the Milky Way was going to be, and ventured out later that night and snagged this shot. Captured with the Fuji X-T2 and the 12mm Rokinon F2.0 lens.
Autumn on Mt. Jo
Taken on my favorite "easy" hike in the high peaks of the Adirondacks, Mt. Jo. I hiked up late in the day to try and get some of the golden light at the end of the day. The fall colors were just about peak at the time. Captured with the Fuji X-T2 and the 16-55mm F2.8.
Autumn in the John Brook Valley
This was taken in the Johns Brook Valley of the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. I hiked up a mountain called The Brothers in the dark to try and get the sun rise in the valley. I didn't get to capture the valley like I had envisioned, however the view to the other side of the valley had great colors. Captured with the Fuji X-T2 and the 50-140mm F2.8.
