This was taken in Glacier National Park in Montana. On our way out from Many Glacier Hotel and further west it was raining pretty hard. We saw this beautiful black-bear along the side of the road munching on berries. He didn't pay us much mind as he gorged himself. I just love how he's looking off into the distance in this shot. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 80-400 F4.5-F5.6 lens.
This was taken at the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge in New York State. This muskrat was grooming him/herself and I caught this just at the right time, as if it was covering it's eyes. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 80-400mm F4.5-F5.6 lens.
This isn't an award winning shot, but this is one of the first wildlife shots I had taken with a zoom lens, so it means a lot to me. This mink was very curious and got very close to me. This photo was taken at Mud Lock on Cayuga Lake. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 24-70mm f2.8 lens.
Here is a shot taken at Montezuma Wildlife Refuge. Fox very rarely are out in the open, so this was a treat. This was early evening in the spring of 2013. The pollen in the air was illuminated by the setting sun and it gave the top of the frame an interesting glow. This fox looks like he is looking up at the beautiful sky, but I think he was just scratching his ear. Hah. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 80-400mm F4.5-F5.6 lens.
This was taken of course in Yellowstone National Park on a foggy morning in the summer of 2013. This bull bison is essentially picking it's nose with it's tongue, but we won't talk about that. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 80-400mm f4.5-f5.6 lens.
Ground Squirrel Scanning the Scene
This was taken in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming during the summer of 2013. This ground squirrel was surveying the scene and looking to steal food from us. We didn't let it. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 70-200 F2.8 lens.
Mother Elk and Calf
This was taken in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming during the summer of 2013. The area near Mammoth Hot Springs is known to have many elk. These are magnificent creatures and it was beautiful to capture this tender moment between mom and calf. Captured with the Nikon D7100 and 80-400mm F4.5-F5.6 lens.
Young Big Horn Sheep
This was taken near Lunch Creek in Glacier National Park in Montana. This young big horn sheep was curious about our presence, but did not linger long. I loved the fact that it was surrounded by green, really making it pop in the frame. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 70-200 f2.8 lens.
Don't Mess with Me
This shot was taken in Glacier National Park in Montana. On the way back from a hike up to Grinnell Glacier, we encountered this Big Horn Sheep buck blocking the trail. There were groups of hikers behind us that wouldn't pass and some that went down or up the trail to pass. This sheep was menacing and started moving towards anyone that passed him. He moved off trail and we passed and he started coming our way, I think the camera was seen as a threat. Long story short we made it passed unscathed. Captured with the Nikon D600 and 24-70 f2.8 lens.
How Much is that Horse in the Window?
This was taken at a local stable. I pulled alongside the road at a local horse stable and had to take this shot of this horse looking out. Captured with the Nikon D800 and 80-400mm F4.5-F5.6 lens.
This is my mothers dog. I just love the look he is giving me, so I had to include this here. Captured with the Fujifilm X100T.
This was taken at Rosemond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse NY. These two were doing their own thing, when suddenly the female lion got up and moved closer to the male. She then nudged her nose to his, and laid down right next to him and closed her eyes. A very tender moment by two very powerful animals. I am still not a fan of captive animals, but this zoo does a great job making sure that the animals are well taken care of, and can have some semblance of normalcy. Captured with the Fuji X-T2 and 50-140mm F2.8 Lens.
